My Story

I started playing percussion at the age of seven. It was something I knew I loved from a very early age. I performed with many local musicians as well as participating in scholastic musical education.  When I turned seventeen I started my professional career playing in local jazz ensembles and groups. Playing with all of these different musicians allowed me to hone my craft and be able to sit in with nearly any style of band.  I continued my musical education in college and received the Western Maryland Freshman Jazz Performer of the Year award in 1995. That same year I formed the Baltimore based band Pocket Full of Change. Pocket Full of Change, was a local all original group featured on regional radio and playing up and down the east coast of the United States. I remained with the group until 2001. Then from 2001 - 2008 I performed with various groups in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, playing a variety of styles from Rock to Jazz. I also performed in various musical theater productions, Godspell, Les Miserables and Guys and Dolls and many others.  All of these experiences gave me the versatility and the drive to come back and teach a new generation of percussionists.  Reach out and let me know if you'd like to talk about getting together for your first lesson.   -David
